Hi, fellas, it feels like a month since the last time I scrapped this blog...
wait... it IS a month... well, pardon me, please xD
Anyway, this time I will write about Devil's Advocate. Whazzat? That is, my friend, a movie.
Devil's Advocate (1997)
Genre: Drama/Thriller (more to thriller for me)
Tagline: The newest attorney at the world's most powerful law firm has never lost a case. But he's about to lose his soul.
Plot Outline: A hotshot lawyer gets more than he bargained for when he learns his new boss is Lucifer himself.
Cast:
Keanu Reeves as Kevin Lomax
Al Pacino as John Milton
Charlize Theron as Mary Ann Lomax
etc... :p
Prologue: Kevin Lomax is a lawyer in Florida that never lost a case. The most powerful law firm in New York then drafted him. But Mr. Lomax then realize that all, his winnings, his wife, his apartment, his whole life are watched over by Lucifer.
Interesting prologue as a thriller? Well, I gotta tell you that the movie is even more interesting. For the plot and idea of this movie, I give FOUR thumbs up. The storyline is stunning, even until the last seconds of the movie. The outspoken words by the characters is so.... "nancep", especially the words from the Lucifer. Keanu Reeves played good, Charlize Theron played very good, and Al "Lucifer" Pacino is, as usual, AWESOME. This is the first movie (in the past few years) that successfully make me cover my ears (yes, I cover my ears, exactly like you, Maya, when you see JP's lung pipe) and close my eyes. And no, it's not because this movie's filled with blood, or that there are sexual scenes (oh, I'm sorry, I forgot to tell you before, this movie has OBVIOUS sexual scenes and nudities, but it's a pity if you don't watch the movie because of that, 'cos sex is not what the movie wants to tell, really), but because of the PSYCHOLOGICAL GAMES that's played by the Maestro, the Lucifer (here, he's referred as Satan). One class with the old Omen. But despite of blood, sex and booze in this movie, the religious content is one very obvious thing that you'll get in this movie.
Some quotes from the movie:
"Sorry to keep you waiting, Mr. Milton got pinned down in Indonesia longer than expected."
- Leamon Heath (sial, setan suka tinggal di Indonesia xD)
"Vanity.... definitely my favorite sin."
"Who are you carrying all those bricks for? God? Is that it? God? Well I tell you, let me give you a little inside information about God. God likes to watch. He's a prankster."
- John Milton
I will not ruin your happiness by spoiling more of the content of this movie. So, grab this movie at the closest movie rental, or for you who are in Fasilkom, I have it in the film folder. You'll really sorry to miss this movie. Trust me.
And oh, try to watch the movie like I did, alone, in the middle of the night (I started to watch at 00.15).
